The longer this goes wi Stokes the less chance their is of him signing imo. Now hearing clubs in Turkey Greece India China and others interested in him. They will pay bigger bucks than us. We had the money to offer £250K for Berry, surely they can drum up another 200K and have a go for Moult or get Stevie May in on loan.

I agree big L, it's time to move on. Stump up the money for moult or I'd love to see Adam Rooney at hibs.

Big L surely you didn't think Hibs were the only club with an offer that would be bizarre. Everyone seems to be panicking yet Lennon is slowly putting a team together. He's not my first choice but if he comes he comes. Personally I would be trying to sign moat from Motherwell.

Luke berry at 250 k is a big difference to at least 600k for moult then a 3 year contact at 4K a week is another 600k 1.2 million NO CHANCE!

I'm certainly not " panicking " about Stokes, and just like you, I would prefer "Moult " I am quite surprised at the supposed amount of interest, these clubs have obviously disregarded his form when he played down south.

The Dons offered £250K the well have been looking for top dollar, no one is going near the asking price of 500K plus. I think £450K would take him, if not £400K. if we can pay Stokes £4K a week we can pay Moult the same. Even Stevie May would do on loan for me. I think with the money on offer, Stokes might be tempted and who can blame him.

400k for moult? Is 400k more than we have to shell out for stokes if we are paying them the same a week
Luke berry was 250k but less a week
Suitors disregarding stokes form down south is a nothing if that's the case moult / mays form are just as bad.

I can't argue with you, it's a fact, we don't have to pay a fee for Stokes, that's probably why their is so much interest in him and why we are trying to bring him in. My point is that if he takes the bigger money that appears to be on offer, where does that leave us? Spending some of the Cummings money to replace him with Moult seems to be a good option. You won't find many if any quality strikers out of contract who are willing to play for the wages we pay. If HiBS don't get Stokes, Moult could be a good option at the money.

Not panicking over Stokes at all, don't want him.
More worried that if he drags it out another week or two and takes the money we're then left signing a freebie that's had no pre-season anywhere when the league is kicking off or being forced to spend twice as much (fee plus wages) for someone from a club in Scotland or league 1/ 2.

Tomo, if you read my post again you will see that I was saying that if Stokes didn't come we could raise the cash to go for Moult. It wasn't a Stokes or Moult comparison! One or two things to consider, Stokes offer includes a hefty signing on fee, I would expect it to be at least £200K as he is a free agent and because we can't match the wages available elsewhere, and that's quite acceptable. He's 29, their will be very little re-saleable value on him at the end of his contract. Moult on the other hand did score goals at previous clubs, not great but better than 1 in 3. He is near 1 in 2 since he joined Motherwell and he's only 25. If he scores the same amount of goals for us as he did for them we could/ would sell him for £1.5 Mill. That would pay his wages, transfer fee and then some.
