Hibs and Aston Villa have agreed a fee? John McGinn is traveling down to see about personal terms.

4 million I believe. So much for the great unwashed telling us he wasn’t thst good. The boy has class.

07 Aug 2018 05:43:08
Well if Villa get £20m plus for Grealish is a snip. (I know they started wanting £40m for Grealish to meet their Fair Play probs but Spurs want to stop around £20m plus add-ons)

Helluva profit plus helluva better player. (and no niteclub trouble) !

07 Aug 2018 11:39:56
I obviously would rather he stayed but it seems Villa have met our asking price. Also soif he is going I'm glad it is not to another team in Scotland. Serves the soap dodgers right for trying to get him on the cheap.

hope there's option to buy.
(although he'll be free agent if Darmstadt go down, bookies reckon its a fair chance)

04 Aug 2018 09:42:20
Hibs can sign him at the end of the loan for 400K apparently.

03 Aug 2018 18:12:24
I think I rightly questioned our new keeper last week but I think I may have been a bit over critical.
Thank you keeper for some of your fantastic saves in the game last night. Well done to every player and the staff and fans who all got our great team over the line.

Update for those curious about Eoin Doyle. Bradford agreed to meet his pay demands
Don't know in Preston gave him a pay-off as well.

{Ed001's Note - he signed for them days ago, I reported it in the review of the day a few days back.}

02 Aug 2018 23:10:49
The keeper was rightly questioned after his performance last week one swallow dosnt make a summer. you're far too quick to bum players up Mallen? Passenger again.
The same player I told you was coming to hibs oh and me again! As McLaren looks almost there. This is a rumours thread NOT! Lies.

03 Aug 2018 10:13:43
Cheer up tomo we're through, we have 3 capable keepers if they were consistent they wouldn't b at hibs.

03 Aug 2018 22:45:29
Tomo mallan is a class act and I never said hogan was thee best I think people judge to quickly and I think he will come good he certainly saved us last night, but again you quick to jump down people's throats we all support the mighty and I never said you were wrong about mclaren I just quoted what Google sport said, so step down off your soap box and treat the family nice.

It’s another half mill we can stick on Mcginn we clearly have the hall in our court.

03 Aug 2018 10:58:23
The ball was and absolutely is very much in John McGinns court.

02 Aug 2018 11:28:04
Are hibs and Celtic still in talks for McGinn? Or has that ship sailed.

02 Aug 2018 13:51:49
He will not go anywhere this season unless it's down south as Celtic are not willing to up their bid.

News on transfer rumour is he's not coming to hibs and is on his way home.

31 Jul 2018 21:22:22
He spent years trying to get out of the Australian league why would he want to go back? He personally wants hibs move and that’s what’s making it happen.

31 Jul 2018 21:52:48
Hope your right mate just telling what it said on google transfer news.

28 Jul 2018 13:01:39
For the past few weeks i have bee reading posts on this site and there have been a few things that have been inaccurate.
Some newspapers got wrong what Leanne actually said and so have some fans.
She never said we would have the biggest transfer budget that we have seen. She said that we would have the biggest budget.
That means more investment in youth.
More investment in our facilities.
More investment in coaching.
And of course transfer budget and wadges and other things involved with the club.
Another thing that has been said on a few occasions is that our budget would not be affected by the sale of SJM. Although it seems to have been projected by the media and by Celtic football club and by fans that it would be affected.
Hibs football club though set out a budget and stated that they wanted to keep SJM. So the budget was set before Celtics first offer came in for SJM.
So far around 300k spent on 2 players and very good players at that. Who can aswell forget about that awful keeper we have on loan to. He will not get a game though when our number 1 returns as he was signed as a back up.
From what has been said also the 21 year old man city player will be signed on loan next week as he completed a medical at Easter road today and now its just a case of paperwork and that kind of stuff.
I had hoped that we would have signed more players by now as we are in Europe but deals hibs had hoped to get done fell through.
Some how aswell i don't think Lennon would be here if he was not given the budget to replace players he new he was going to loose. IE Allan, Barker, Dylan, Mclaren.
I don't want to see hibs rush into signings that could be bad for the team as i would rather wait and get the right players.
Saying that the keeper last night was awful.
Keep the faith fellow hibees. GGTTH.

Agree3 Disagree1

28 Jul 2018 18:28:21
Give the keeper a chance, 10 guys iñ front of him weren't great in the fairies fisherm3n game either, that's Lennon's tactics as loñg as we score more than other team, saying that don't know why laidlaw no getting a chance?

28 Jul 2018 18:59:01
Having watched three games with Bogdan, two of which I attended, I can honestly say he is horrendous. He hasn't made any save of note in any of the three games, his kicking is suspect and he doesn't command his box. The first goal conceded on Thursday night at his near post might be the mistake that costs us Europe, plain and simple, criminal for any goalkeeper. I've got faith in Lenny when it comes to signings but occasionally the gaffer along with staff get it wrong, unfortunately not every signing will be a Kamberi! I really hope next week in Greece he puts faith in Laidlaw as right now Bogdan is looking like our achilles heel. You've got to take notice when all the Liverpudlian papers were mocking his performance expectedly!

02 Aug 2018 21:06:54
Bogdan was brilliat s hàlf btw 3 worldies agnst 10 meñ how çan they put a team like that out oñ a c4owd of two thsnd a week?

28 Jul 2018 00:22:37
I love my team but despair at how naive some of my fellow Hibees are.

We all know John McGinn wants to play for Celtic. We all know Celtic want him. So they put in bids Hibs won't accept or so it seems.

Now tell me. Can anyone, hand on heart, believe that there's no chance all parties have held discussions weeks ago. Neil is Celtic thru and thru. John is a Celtic fan. No one thinks for a moment that John may have already agreed to sit tight and wait for a pre contract. No one? Neil claimed John was worth 5m but he's not once criticised Celtics derisory offers. That speaks volumes given if it had been any other club he'd have plenty to say. No?

If John wanted to he could go to leanne and ask for a years extension to his contract. But we live in the real world where he won't care a hoot if Hibs receive a fee or not.

So with all that in mind Hibs should grab what they can from Celtic and move on. If its true about the 2m then accept it and accept it publicly before Celtic say "oh rubbish their calling our bluff".

Lets get away from thinking Neil and John will do what's best for Hibs. let's grow up a bit!

Agree2 Disagree1

28 Jul 2018 18:15:45
Would rather lose him for nothing than sell him cheap.

27 Jul 2018 13:54:51
Youssouf Mulumba (ex-Killie) back on Lennon's radar according to a couple of sources. PLEASE MAKE THIS HAPPEN. Currently a free agent, at 31 year old surely a 2 year deal would be enough to entice him to the Leith San Siro. Mulumba during interviews on a couple of occasions said Hibs impressed him most with our style of play. AGAIN MAKE THIS HAPPEN! No transfer fee, not commanding stupid wages, this for me is an absolute no brainer guys. Thoughts?

Agree2 Disagree2

27 Jul 2018 16:58:45
Agreed mate.

26 Jul 2018 23:47:24
So if anybody had any doubts about sir John McGinns head and commitment right now, then if you'd been at the game last night you'd see just how good he is and that he is not affected by speculation. He is certainly worth 3 million right now and celtic should put up or shut up. I'll gladly see him run out his contract on showings like this. Drive, spirit, determination and skill. A player still with much more to come. Ggtth.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jul 2018 07:57:34
And one of the first over to Flo to celebrate the winner!

27 Jul 2018 11:19:01
aklistair I don't doubt for a second the commitment of SJM and he was SENSATIONAL last night along with two or three others ie Boyle and Mallan. However despite our amazing second half performance you've got to be honest enough to concede we are lacking quality in certain areas as the first half clearly highlighted. Unfortunately SJM is our most valuable asset and to assist Lennon in the transfer market in my opinion we'd be better cashing in now rather than lose him for nothing. If (? ) LD can negotiate a decent fee and (? ) players long term I just think it would be more beneficial to the club. (I wouldn't be heartbroken if he stayed) I don't know about anyone else but we could do with someone reliable in goals. BOGDAN IS NOT THE ANSWER! SHOCKER!

29 Jul 2018 06:28:33
Mallan sensational? We’re you at the game? take his goals away from his first 3 games and his general play has been nothing more than average again on Thursday no goals no domination of midfield he’s of the pace.

25 Jul 2018 17:52:30
So hibs keep rejecting offers from Celtic, not willing to be pushed over as easy as the past suggests. Does he and celtic just decide to sit it out until January? Hibs get nowt? John goes to celtic and we fail to profit at all? Celtics offers seem to suggest this and are merely offering a goodwill gesture with the intentions of not being held to ransom. Our pre season transfer budget also looks to suffer. £2m is a good pay day for hibs from celtic for an unproven player outside of Scotland, also given south of the border they don't seem to be kicking the door down. He hasn't really shone internationally either for us to be demanding an incredible amount or am I missing something?

Agree1 Disagree1

25 Jul 2018 18:38:42
Yes he’s picked up a mom at international level& we would get another full season of John McGinn so it’s not nowt? If we get into Europe next year or progress to group stages this year it’s more than Celtic are offering so that’s the budget sorted. he's worth every penny of £4m so pay Celtic up or forget it we don’t care GGTTH.

25 Jul 2018 18:53:35
So now we wait to see if we get to the group stages for our purse? That's a shocking idea.
Mcginn as much as I would love to say he has, has definitely not proved himself internationally even with a friendly MOM, apart from that game at pittodrie, tell me where and what stage he's SHONE internationally. let's get real before we go down the England's "It's coming home" road. As for keeping him for another season, do you want to rely on a player who's heart is now somewhere else? We're now stalling on bringing in people to bolster, were still at the replacing and levelling stage. I love John as a player and would be delighted to hold onto him, given he wanted to be there.

25 Jul 2018 19:26:18
I agree with Tomo. I get your drift Tam but I'd rather see McGinn at ER next year. A huge change in midfield all at once could be damaging to us. If we keep McGinn then we'll have a more gentle transition of midfielders with less disturbance to the team as a whole. Yes we'd lose the cash left over from St mirrens due's but what we stand to gain in league position and Europe hopefully helps counter that loss, as well as having the benefit of the player too of course. Who knows, he might even sign an improved and extended contract! lol yes ok, dreaming a bit on that last point.

25 Jul 2018 19:44:08
I would agree with you there with regards to unsettling the midfield and as i said I would love to be able to keep him but chances being he would be an unsettled member, the whole situation is very publicised now. I'm more just looking at the probability factor of the situation. We thought he'd be sitting considering a few more options and that our valuation would be met, clearly not. I'm sure given the eventual outcome of it all we would have benefited from the sale and time to replace and strengthen. I'm only speaking from a personal frustration of the whole situation. Great guy who deserves a lot in my eyes however relying on a run in Europe for cash with a player who's emptied the locker already just isn't how it should be.

25 Jul 2018 22:04:43
As long as we have Lennon and Dempster at the helm, we have to and can trust their decisions though.

25 Jul 2018 22:28:58
I agree with the above we trust dempster I think we're being shroud mullan is a far better technical player than McGinn but I would hold on a wee bit longer and get the £3m which will happen gone are the days where we are a feeder club .

25 Jul 2018 23:37:17
How many stick outs can you pick from any Scotland team recently Robertson tierney that's about it McGinn as not looked out of place and will only get better, bottom line if Celtic offer £2m and 33% goes to st Mirren we are not selling keep him for another here and reap the benefits from his talents and hopefully rewards we are not struggling for cash so I don’t get the problem. if Celtic don’t think he’s worth the price why would that unsettle him for coming year? He gets his head down and knows he’s a free agent next May.

26 Jul 2018 13:46:58
We're damned if we do damned if we don't!
I'd rather however this whole situation was sorted last week and I'd be attending tonight's game watching Scott Allan and Ryan Christie in our midfield alongside Mallan as opposed to John McGinn. Celtic want SJM, we want Allan and I'm pretty sure Leanne could of negotiated Christie as part of the package she's been a revelation so far. I'd love to keep SJM who wouldn't? However morals in football cost money and despite agreeing in principle with our stance we're missing an opportunity to cease two quality players for the price of one and losing crucial time in the transfer market in the process. Tonight's game is massive and our squad is thin on the ground! GGTTH.

26 Jul 2018 14:19:35
Well said obanhibee.

26 Jul 2018 17:01:23
I wouldn’t mind hibs selling for 2.5m and just ending this saga. SJM is class but no one player is worth the hassle. And as above having Allan here settled in wanting to be here is worth more in my eyes than the extra 500k and all the hassle around it. With the money in the bank we could easily get another quality striker in and also strengthen that shakey defence.

26 Jul 2018 17:22:46
Lots of positive talk there but we can't make the tic give us more money and we can't make them give us players either. We have to sit tight. I'm on the side of the board.

27 Jul 2018 11:31:27
I don't necessarily disagree with you aklistair and historically the board have been shrewd when it comes to transfers and LD has taken us to the next level NO DOUBT. I'm still just a bit sore over losing Dylan for nothing who I've no doubt will be getting touted at 8-10M come the end of this season such is the inflation in the English market. Mallan looks quality and has slipped in seemlessly but to lose a talent like SJM for nothing would be heartbreaking after Dylan and I think would be folly. IF MCGINN PLAYS LIKE LAST NIGHT EVERY WEEK could we even put a price on him? We need to ensure Boyle is nailed down on a LIFE contract as well, the most under-rated player in Scotland! His pace and work rate is just phenomenal! ENJOY LAST NIGHT HIBEES WE CAN DO THIS. GGTTH.

Hibs got Croatian striker Ivan lendric on trial at Easter road.

24 Jul 2018 19:31:30
1 good year, kicked out of everywhere else.

24 Jul 2018 19:43:59
Big Croatian seems to be trouble?

25 Jul 2018 11:25:13
Don't know much about him other than he's been around the block as his record suggests. However Lennon has been proven to unearth a diamond needing polished before ie Kamberi so I'll reserve judgement. With Simon Murray departing we're certainly light up top with Kamberi and Shaw our only two recognised first team strikers and I can't imagine we'll shell out for two top level strikers so I reckon Lendric might be an option from the bench as opposed to McLaren. Lennon has stated he hasn't given up hope on that deal and teaming up again with his new best bud Flo would be everyone's preferred pairing.

25 Jul 2018 11:28:15
I'm sure Lennon won't take any trouble.

22 Jul 2018 16:31:58
Anyone know if we are still in for McLaren?

He got 30mins for Darmstadt in yesterday friendly vs Huddersfield.

24 Jul 2018 10:43:57
Thanks for the replies. That's a shame he did a decent job last season. I know we are getting goals from all over the team but with Murray being sold I think we need at least one more forward. I heard we were interested in Adam Le Fondre any know of any other possible targets?

Aberdeen snuffing around Louis moult surely we’re a better prospect.

23 Jul 2018 23:27:39
Get him onboardnow would be a loan then minimun transfer if agreed upfront like Kambere.

24 Jul 2018 10:29:18
I'd give Eoin Doyle a wee shout.

24 Jul 2018 10:35:27
After the success of the Kamberi I expect Hibs will be trying to put similar type deals together at every opportunity. Just a pity we didn't have that in place for McLaren or he'd already be back at Easter Road. I read somewhere they're looking for around 600k which I can't see us shelling out on any player as an upfront fee in the current marketplace.

24 Jul 2018 19:08:35
Eoin too expensive for Aberdeen. zero chance our biscuit tin (unless Preston pay him out in full for last year of contract)

19 Jul 2018 21:56:41
Well done the mighty we need another couple in defence was poor midfield looks strong and forwards look like they link well but would still like to see a forward and another defender .

Agree1 Disagree0

19 Jul 2018 22:58:08
Defence was garbage our midfield struggled over 2 legs to dominate a part-time midfield who played with 10 men for almost half a game take Mallans goals away and nothing? Lose McGinn? Nothing in midfield? Big flo badly needs help. Early doors match and physical fitness bad 2 nyt is as bad a performance from start to finish I’ve witnessed in a long long time.

20 Jul 2018 09:59:03
Tommo I couldn’t agree more however I’m hoping we’re still in pre season mode. I remember Mallan very well from his St Mirren days and he was always class at going forward but offered nothing in helping out defensively that’s partly the reason I thought he was a decent signing as I thought big marv would cover that roll. The bottom line is we can’t lose two of Scotland’s best midfielders and not replace them with quality that’s just asking for trouble. Is sir David injury free now? Is McGregor injury free for the start of the season. If not we could be in trouble without strengthening the defence and midfield. Don’t think Lois moult done much at Preston could be worth a punt.

20 Jul 2018 11:08:37
Louis Moult played part of Preston's first 3 pre-season games (105 mins, scored once), so like Horgan Alex Neil is giving him fair pre-season chance

Not at all sure about this new rumour about Adam le Fondre - scores goals everywhere but.

17 Jul 2018 21:08:00
New McGinn update Celtic to offer £2m plus mikey Johnson on loan. get lost with the loans.

Agree2 Disagree0

19 Jul 2018 15:29:02
Unless it’s Scott Allan.

17 Jul 2018 03:43:16
Update on McGinn. I havn't posted for a few days as nothing new until now. As i reported earlier McGinn only wants to go to celtic. Makes it hard for hibs to negotiate as team McGinn aren't interested in going elsewhere. I am now more confident than ever that a deal will be done, ballpark £2mil and Allan on loan. Loan deal means no extra cash to st mirren. Hibs want celtic to pay st mirrens cut.

Agree1 Disagree0

17 Jul 2018 09:46:02
Surely hibs have the say about where he goes if a bid of £3m came in I would take it contrary to what mcginn says after all hibs hold the contract? Just asking if this is the deal on the table I hope they refuse this is not the best deal for hibs imo.

17 Jul 2018 12:08:16
Loan deal for Allen would mean we can sign a pre-contract with him in January. I’d take that.

17 Jul 2018 14:56:19
It's the best deal hibs can get under the circumstances. If a player wants to go to specific club, he can. He hasn't handed in a transfer request so that strengthens the case that hibs do not have a say. Scenario is either he goes for £2mil + a loan player/ s now or walks away at the end of the season for nothing. McGinn was always bought by hibs to be developed and sold. Hibs cannot afford to let £2mil walk out the door. It isn't good business sense. Hibs could agree a transfer with another club, but if the player says he doesn't want to go there, he wont. As celtic need players, the deal needs to be done, hence why they are willing to deal now rather than wait until january. That gives a little power to hibs, but not much. Hibs want scott allan but celtic don't want to give him up as they see him as a sellable assett. If the deal was (from hibs view) £2mil + allan and johnston (who is a player hibs have just enquired about) on loan and celtic pay st mirrens cut, it would be done. Personally, with what i know now, i think the deal will be circa £2mil + youth loan player. Hibs will sign Allan in a seperate deal. All undisclosed fee.

17 Jul 2018 15:18:03
Geko I’m just going to say well said, but I don’t really no what for as I fell 😴 asleep half way through your post! You do go on a bit? 😂# mr obviously.

17 Jul 2018 17:14:58
No problem, i will end it there. Just being thorough for avoidance of doubt. Its easier for me to post once with all info i know. I shall leave it there.

17 Jul 2018 21:26:33
Thanks for that geko ye see what your saying and Ye would except that deal tomo you sure your a hibby mate your fast to criticise the family mate.

17 Jul 2018 21:27:45
Thanks gecko for the info tomo keeps slating the hibs family.

18 Jul 2018 03:40:04
Although i know many and hibs are a club to be admired for going in the right direction, no i'm not a hibs fan. I just thought i would share what i know. As i said, i'll leave it at that.

Rumoured on Twitter that Mulumba ex Killie may be coming to Hibs. Would be good if true but seemingly original source "agent kevin" is unreliable.

Agree1 Disagree0

16 Jul 2018 10:40:44
Seen that rumour myself zafira but the source is highly suspect as you rightly stated. There would be no complaints from this Hibee is the move materialised Mulamba gave Kilmarnock an added dimension to their play last season and would be an excellent acquisition. Quality player and if Kilmarnock could agree a financial loan deal with West Brom for the boy then it wouldn't bankrupt the powers at be at Easter Road. Given the fact he's now got SPFL experience this would be a real coup if true but unfortunately can't see it coming to fruition. Fingers crossed though!

14 Jul 2018 22:42:12
Anybody know what the problem with hibs and Murray is? I thought he was a good player.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Jul 2018 18:35:11
As did I. But that’s why Lennon is manager, not us. Murray will be on a higher wage than Oli Shaw, don’t need both.

15 Jul 2018 23:05:58
Poor man's kamberi plays the same hustler role Shaw's a plan b heel go for a wee poacher again.

16 Jul 2018 10:49:18
Lennon is the gaffer and has been excellent in every department to date but I do feel Murray can think himself unlucky. He started like a train last season but had a sticky spell which seen him being loaned out for game time unfortunately for him his replacements where sensational. Kamberi is superior and we should enjoy his exploits while we have him which I think will only be for this season. he is that good. Jamie McLaren possesses more of a predatory instinct but the Germans want to keep hold of him which may be the reprieve Simon Murray needs providing Hibs don't push him out the door. Shaw was always going to get a more prominent role this campaign and potentially could be a valuable asset if he can carry on his form.
