Great result 2day! 3-2 don't say I didn't forecast the result. That's the 3rd 3-2 win on the trot against them, long may it continue.

The lad Slivka is a real find, what a goal and he wasn't shy in putting it about. Well done to whoever brought him to our attention. What a goal from Murray, cool as they come, we should have had more.

PS Stokesy was lucky not to be off as well imo.

13 Aug 2017 00:41:28
You're right Big L - wow what a goal from Slivka and Simon Murray is a gemstone. Well done the whole team and Neil Lennon. Fantastic GGTTH.

13 Aug 2017 12:26:01
Watched the 1st half on Hibs TV Dylan McGeough was outstanding. I believe he is in the final yr of his contract, Hibs should be doing something about that, regardless of his injury problem. It would be great to get him signed up and McGinn on a 1yr extension.

13 Aug 2017 15:50:14
well done yesterday lads (celtic fan) but i think that's prob best hibs team I've ever seen only 33, i know there's talk of u trying to get rooney but that boy murray up front is amazing and stkes is stokes don't think u need another striker.

11 Aug 2017 13:38:47
Tomo you heard anything regarding Rooney. It's starting to do the rounds again and rumour had it the sheep wouldn't let him go until they signed another striker and now they've signed Stevie may
I still fancy Louis Moult.

Agree0 Disagree1

11 Aug 2017 15:08:51
Wether it be Rooney moult may or any other striker at 300k -500k hibs can match Aberdeen for up front spend but won't break their wage structure, that's why we are failing at last hurdle with these signings, Petrie holds the purse strings and isn't prepared to gamble on anyone player, this includes loan signings Christie Henderson Stewart are all out our range, ambrose has took a massive wage cut to get back in the window as stokes has done
Rooney with 2/ 3 years left on contract is exactly what we're up against .
up front 300k fine
weekly wage? It's not happening.

12 Aug 2017 13:57:35
As Iv said from day dot Petrie is the Bain of our existence. No ambition. Are you sure Rooney has that amount of time left?

{Ed007's Note - Rooney's contract with Aberdeen runs until 2020.}

12 Aug 2017 22:32:34
We signed Murray, Stokes and big Deity. I can't see us breaking the bank for Rooney when he'll still be their first choice up front with May alongside.

13 Aug 2017 18:18:40
Thanks for clarifying Ed no chance of a signing but hey we're the second best team in the league without him.

{Ed007's Note - Cracking result yesterday :-D It should be a good fight between you and the Sheep for second this year.}

11 Aug 2017 13:21:02
I know he has been mentioned before but what is the current status on Craig Sibbald? Is he still out of contract?
In my opinion, I'd have him over Commons. Commons possibly has more quality, but can he play all 38 plus cup runs games? Sibbald would fill the void in left mid, the only position I think we need to fill.
The squad is excellent. Hats off to Lennon. I think Sibbald is the player to take Brian Grahams wages.

Agree0 Disagree1

11 Aug 2017 19:23:16
The problem is that even mediocre players can get good wages. I think Lenny/ HiBS have decided to cut down the size of the squad so that they can up the wages they can offer to players. Last season we must have had around 30 players, at the moment we have 21, 4 of whom are Shaw Martin, Porteous and F Murray all of whom are on Dev wages. That leaves us wi a hard squad of 17. I think their will be cash there to bring in another player and I would like it to be Tony Andreau. Goal scoring mid/ No 10. 1 in 2 wi Hamilton, 1 in 2 wi Dun Utd. Btw just released by Norwich.

{Ed007's Note - Tony Andreu signed for Coventry yesterday mate.}

11 Aug 2017 19:24:35
Sibbald had signed on for another year at Falkirk.

11 Aug 2017 23:06:12
I suppose Andreau is out the question then!

{Ed007's Note - Maybe he could be imperfectly registered but I don't think you can get away with that these days.}

10 Aug 2017 14:46:46
Question, can we see Slivka and mcginn both playing centre midfield or they too similar? Think that would be a great sight, both physical and can ping a pass. Also, what formation we thinking for ibrox game? wing backs? if so, then who?

Agree1 Disagree0

08 Aug 2017 21:33:01
It's going to be difficult to keep everyone happy this season. It's a long time since we had the depth of squad we now have. I thought Partick weren't a bad side on Sat. Their result against St Johnstone 2nite is quite telling, even this early in the season.

Agree1 Disagree3

08 Aug 2017 23:25:43
Edwards is the main man at Partick - he's their playmaker and was missing on Saturday.
Not sure how much of a difference he would've made with the way we picked ourselves up after the soft goal and took control of the game but these teams will take points off each other in the league this season.

Saints aren't as strong since we signed Swanny but they're a well organised outfit especially away from home.
Both sides lack a bit of quality but are difficult on their day so an early league cup game isn't a great indicator to be honest.

09 Aug 2017 09:55:35
Saints have been a good side under Wright for years now. Granted they lost Swanny to us but his goals were mainly from the spot. They also picked up a 500K player in O'Halloran, who scored a cracker for them at Killie on Sat. I expected Killie to do well there but Saints seen them off. Saints were clear Fav's to win against Thistle but didn't. Your right it's still early days but if Thistle had got hammered at Saints it would have been no surprise and it would have detracted from our result imo. (fitba punters theory)

09 Aug 2017 10:52:34
Totally agree BIG L and that dosnt happen often lol.

09 Aug 2017 11:20:17
To be fair Saints only got fourth last season because the yams were so poor under Cathro.
We look like Lennon has us drilled and focused, the quality we're facing is a bit more than the last few years and the players are responding to that too by stepping it up.
We look really good right now, I just hope if we have an off day we can bounce back quickly.

09 Aug 2017 19:31:06
I watched a bit of Motherwell v Huns game, the latter wasn't as bad as I thought they would be, but I think we have more than enough, 3-2 to Hibs, ring a bell? I took Hibs at 9/ 2 now 3's. Get yer cash on the Hibees.

09 Aug 2017 21:45:33
6-0 well, that was unexpected! Saturday will be a real test of character, but we have the players to deal with the pressure.

10 Aug 2017 14:49:45
6-0 means nothing. Proven that travanir can't handle stokes and he will be well up for it. Him and swanson can cause damage and Boyle and s. murray will work for the entire match. Brilliant team we have now, fear nobody. AND mark my words, hibs will be the team to end celtics unbeaten run.

10 Aug 2017 17:15:41

08 Aug 2017 14:16:40
Anybody got an idea of season ticket sales?

{Ed007's Note - Just over 12,300 according to a guy on Twitter that looks at that kind of stuff for Scottish games. Clubs are quite open about sales figures, especially when they're up and worth bragging about.}

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Aug 2017 00:20:53
Can't quite put my finger on it but there's something missing from this Hibs team and I don't know what maybe it's a strong holding midfielder someone like Matty Jack, or a frank sauzee. Don't get me wrong Bartley is doing a wonderful job but I want to see big, strong you know what I'm saying. Maybe I'm wrong but there's just something stopping this team from being very special. Anyone agree or disagree?

Agree0 Disagree3

08 Aug 2017 03:00:45
Big Marv is a beast of a guy but he's not really a footballer.
He's the strong workhorse doing the thankless task that allows the others to go about winning us games.

I understand what you mean, I think it's coming together more now than it was over the last couple of seasons - fitness was the main thing we seemed to lack for the longest time but Lennon's getting that into the squad now.
Fraser Murray will be the one that has the next big thing tag placed on him if he stays fit and in-form.
He links up and gets into scoring positions a lot like Latapy did, just doesn't necessarily beat players as easily.

We're coming together as a squad and that's the most valuable aspect for me, too often we've relied on one or a few players to come up with something brilliant to win is games and it's cost us against organised sides.
Now we're looking drilled, balanced and a threat from various positions and it's looking bright with other options still to gel with the squad.

08 Aug 2017 09:23:24
I was at Alloa a couple of weeks ago and saw the Lithuanian midfielder. He was given 20 mins and was outstanding. Made good runs and was very physical. I reckon he will do the business.
He never gor much chance on Saturday, but I have been following Hibs since 1972, and in my opinion, and its only my humble opinion, this is one of the best squads we have had for a long long time.

08 Aug 2017 14:47:09
I don't think big Marv will play most of the games anyway
If we play 3 centre halfs and 2 attacking full backs he's not needed in all games, mcgeouch will fill the roll of sitting mid.

08 Aug 2017 23:09:28

We may not have standout name/ s but this squad is simply of a higher level overall than we've had for some time and they all want to play and enjoy their football together.
It's kicked up a notch or two with the right personalities coming in.

I'm genuinely excited to see what we can do at Ibrox this weekend with Sevco barely squeaking a win over Well.
If we turn up like we have done so far and deal with the crowd it could be a big result for us. We've nothing to fear having beaten them there a couple of times and at Hampden and they're far from a polished side.
I'm trying to temper my enthusiasm but it's difficult.

11 Aug 2017 13:36:53
If big marvs no a footballer u tell him, then go get the ball off him.

06 Aug 2017 13:36:57
lennon saying today that he may still make more signings.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Aug 2017 14:39:56
He said it the other day.

If the window ends without more in he's happy with the business done.
The statement made about business being over and done with wasn't made by him.
If the right kind of quality comes up he'll try to sign it, he admitted there's one position he'd still look at but nothing is happening just now.

06 Aug 2017 14:44:39
Do you think he might be talking about Commons? He's been on the box twice this W/ E wi Sky, he might fancy a crack at that, replacement for McCann maybe.

06 Aug 2017 17:40:12
I think it's wide left still. Whether he fancies Commons for that or not I don't know.
Swanny has been great so far but we don't have any natural attacking cover out on the left if he's out through loss of form or injury and he scores more from through the middle too.
It's pleasing to see Stokes putting in some work for the team, was only 20mins but he was willing and linked up well - I think Lennon has tried to build a front two like he had at Celtic, Murray runs his socks off and gets into the scraps in the box like Hooper used to. Never gives them a minute's peace and that will give Stokes and the others the space to play.

I know I've given Stokes a hard time, but if he carries on like yesterday and genuinely wants play and put the effort in I'm happy with him coming back.

06 Aug 2017 20:29:28
McGinn was good for most of the match yesterday, he gave the guy Osman a torrid time, I actually enjoyed the battle between them, it was fair and hard. McGinn looked as if he had turned in to a man over night, he's bulked up and he's trying hard to control the midfield. Lennon obviously been talking to him. I'm still a bit worried he might go before the window closes, hard to imagine RP turning down an offer. I'm also hoping that Stokes won't upset Murray's game or Lenny doesn't move Murray wide. The lad was brilliant yesterday, he fights for every ball, he's a big unit, he's pacey, hard, good in the air, he's got so much passion from the second he walks on the park, it must rub off on the rest of the team. They should stick him and Boyle on 5yr contracts now.

07 Aug 2017 03:52:44

I don't see McGinn going in this window though.
He's young, he's only been with us a couple of seasons and won things and the squad is building and progressing nicely as is.
He's happy at the club and has obviously taken the gaffer's views on board and wants to improve himself.

Celtic won't buy him just now.
Championship sides won't pay enough for him right now either it seems.

I'd like him to stay at least this season and I think he'd like to take a proper crack at the Scottish Premiership too, so he may well see his deal out then go.

Things Leanne put in place from the beginning are coming together for us now, I'm genuinely excited for the next few seasons ahead if we can keep the squad balanced.

07 Aug 2017 11:49:20
I agree with hoping that McGinn stays and extends his contract maybe with some sort of release in there because when he does go st mirren are due 33% of sell on figure
I also think there's a chance of a burn out in McGinn before Xmas he's looking fitter and sharper due to non stop training
He has never stopped training thinking he wod be called up for England game and carried on right through to pre season.

07 Aug 2017 13:49:17
The sell-on clause was why I think he won't go until at least next summer, we'll want to maximise our return on the fee paid and he hasn't shown any signs of wanting away because he's happy at the club.
Aiming for European football won't hurt that at all either if we can get it.

There is the possibility of burning out but if he shows signs of it by Christmas we have more than enough in the squad to get by while he recovers.
He's always made himself available and put the graft in despite a long hard season before so a fitter meatier McGinn will hopefully cope better with it now.

03 Aug 2017 22:04:40
I think Henderson would be a great bit of business for Hibs. He's very good at carrying the ball forward and driving at defences and has already been stated, great at delivering set pieces. The question was asked where would he fit in? He would fit in as an excellent squad player and if we remember our emergency loans from last season, Liam Henderson would not be found wanting. I would welcome him back with open arms as I truly believe he could establish himself as a regular. The reality is John McGinn probably will not be at Easter Road next season.

Agree1 Disagree1

04 Aug 2017 05:14:23
What is this obsession with hendo all about? He had 2 good corners in final and one for cummins at tynie. He is pretty average good squad player i agree. We need to sign players good enough to displace those already there not waste money on squad players. Don't think lenny rates him.

04 Aug 2017 13:55:27
I agree there's a lot of talk about Henderson but he supports hibs has played for hibs is a hibs cup ledgend and is Not a regular at Celtic so fans want him back, I disagree he's an average squad player and is good enough to be a hibs regular. IMO only Marciano, ambrose mcgregor Stevenson Whittaker and McGinn are guaranteed starters and Hendo playing at his best would join these five.

04 Aug 2017 21:14:39
We need Hanlon back pronto - I hope his recovery continues.
We miss him leading the line whenever he's out of the side, but I agree with the rest of that.

04 Aug 2017 22:07:02
McGeough is a cert, best player bar none. Boyle is a cert, he's the guy that's creating all the chances, Murray is another cert, he's the one taking all the chances. Stokes will play if he's fit. wi Tomo's SIX! That's the first 11. Swanny won't be happy, neither will the 2 Lith's or Gray or Bartley, probably the best holding mid in the Prem. Lenny's got problems.

04 Aug 2017 23:48:27
Counting never bn my strong point BIG L
I'm always at sixes and eights.

02 Aug 2017 18:30:00
The yams are after Sean Derry as coach ( Cambridge Utd ) With the three NI players and NI coach already there, I suppose it makes sense.

02 Aug 2017 20:51:42
Hibs rumours BIG L?
Who gives a F. !

02 Aug 2017 21:15:17
Thats fine, let's hope the yams play as we did with fenlon, and co!

02 Aug 2017 22:25:19
You will be reminded off that Tomo!

02 Aug 2017 22:30:53
Hibs say that's the signings over. SKY Sports.

02 Aug 2017 20:30:08
That's looking for someone to put up with Levine how uninspired are they.

02 Aug 2017 22:48:43
Thats fair enough. cummins money being re-invested in the team / wages. commons still that possibility of another forward thinking midfielder. I doubt he will be anything like he was, but ye never know.

03 Aug 2017 00:39:50
Commons is under no employer pressure to return to action, that might help him get back into shape without worrying too much about it.

If he recovers there's half a chance, and he doesn't need lightning pace as long as his brain is still sharp and keen.

I'm not sure if the window is done, it was widely reported by Lennon and Leeanne that he wanted two more. That either means Stokes and Commons, Stokes and we lost out on the other, or there's still another one on the back-burner as a possibility.

02 Aug 2017 12:12:51
Wow - It's true . Stokesy is back!
No matter what you think of him that's a huge signing for the Hibbies.
A statement of intent. This team is as strong as any I've seen. Perhaps with McLeish's team with Latapy n Sauzee in it, just the exception.
Regardless we're back. If we can get him banging in 15 or more goals alongside one of the murray boys we'll be right up there. Given our defence is also excellent and pretty good midfield, do we need anyone else? Looking forward to Saturday against Partick.
BTW at the supporters meeting on Monday, Leeanne Frank and Tracy reported that there were still1100 folks that had a season last year but have not renewed yet. If you know any of them, the club said they'd try and help out if they can, if they have a problem or issue. GGTTH

I reckon we need 1 more outwide player and then we're done, maybe one more midfielder incase injuries but apart from that we fine I'd say.

02 Aug 2017 13:35:33
I'm one of them;

Email reverted to old details after last season and so missed out on the payment plan abd thus can't afford it.

Still a bit miffed now since I got help from the ticket office to set it all up for last season and no-one mentioned there being any old info that could conflict in future.
No help offered this time either.

02 Aug 2017 15:42:02
One piece of the jigsaw missing

03 Aug 2017 00:46:13
Yes and no.
Who misses out if we sign him?
He's not a wide player - he's much better playing in the middle and just drifting out into the inside wide channels to link up.
Doesn't get into the box to try to finish things as much as Fraser Murray and doesn't have the bite of McGinn or the other sturdier players.

Don't get me wrong, I've wanted him permanently since he left and think we've missed his set-piece deliveries, but we signed other players to fit a system that wouldn't suit him.

03 Aug 2017 06:33:04
Hi there 90 plus 2,

Agree1 Disagree0

02 Aug 2017 10:22:34
It's like ordering a take away and by the time you get it you've lost your appetite. Seriously, the feelings a bit flat, when I suppose it should be one of excitement! He will most definitely not be fit, cameo appearance in the gers game Sat next maybe.

02 Aug 2017 11:37:52
Don't mind him not being fit at first provided he isn't keeping fit and in-form players out of the side before he's fit enough.
And I hope Lennon gets some consistency and form back out of him too.

02 Aug 2017 11:53:30
His goal ratio down south might be poor but, as has been pointed out, no one can argue with his ratio in Scotland. I just hope Simon Murray continues to get the chance to show his sensational goal scoring form.

02 Aug 2017 13:24:15
It is going to be a long hard season. I am sure all the players in the pool will get a chance to stake a place in the team. All the players will not be available for every game, just ask David Gray and Darren Macgregor.

02 Aug 2017 15:44:01
Long hard season?! One of the best hibs squads we've had in years and one of the strongest what more do you want.

02 Aug 2017 17:53:23
It's hard to get excited 100% with hibs when your a certain age HIBSBOY, as throughout my hibees career I've bn let down more than I've hit the heights of success and as your name suggests you are younger and yet to feel true hibees pain (hopefully you never do )
I will try to take your energy and positive thoughts into this coming season.

02 Aug 2017 18:04:01
Lot of teams making good signings, Killie Lee Erwin and Greer plus, Well and Dundee have all made good signings to. Ross C. Billy McKay etc. I think this could be a very competitive season, I would like to see teams taking points of the old firm, top 4 and Europe would do me.

02 Aug 2017 21:05:58
yeh I must agreee, Have felt so much pain over the years, Its hard to get excited, However we were as good as, If not better than most of the teams in the prem last season. So If the new signungs ved in well. we are the most improved team in the country . on paper. ;) let's see. bring oan the Jags.

02 Aug 2017 21:13:07
mcginn solvka and boyle surely starting big games, bartley poss 4th mid, i'm abit worries murray is going to be oushed out wide if we have no more width, and not given a long run at contnuing to bang em in from the middle of the park, but hey. if he can so a shift and chip in with some goals great. can see him being floated in the "henry position" :) all in all we have options now, no doubt, and were better than half the prem last season anyway!

I don't no anything mate I like everyone else was expecting it to be announced last night.

01 Aug 2017 12:21:07

01 Aug 2017 19:11:02
As far as I'm led to believe stokes is a done deal and will be announced this week.

01 Aug 2017 19:14:08
There is another 2 players on lennons radar.

02 Aug 2017 00:32:24
Be surprised if Stokes signs.

31 Jul 2017 23:50:14
Just back from the supporters meeting at ER. Leanne, Frank and Tracy in attendance. Not been to one of these before and it was very interesting. Leanne very open and Tracy and Frank also great wealth of info.
Hibernian FC has truly turned a corner. 2.5 hours of Q&A re Hibs. Leanne allowed herself to be questioned in everything Hibs and Scottish football. What a great ambassador for Hibs FC and Scottish Football she is.
Stokes deal very much alive but Hibs not being held to ransom and still very much active in the search for talent. So much behind the scenes stuff going on for the better. Some little things and some really quite amazing big things. She asked for some stuff to remain in the room but the forward thinking quite is amazing considering where we were a few years ago. Imaginative ideas being not only considered but adopted and taken forward. Sincerely trying to implement supporters desire's on and off the pitch. Keep your ears to the ground and eyes open. GGTTH God Bless Leanne

Agree4 Disagree3

01 Aug 2017 13:29:35
Waa a very promising meeting indeed. However the chancss of anything staying in the room are slim

I would be happy with a top 4 this season. Building for the next.

01 Aug 2017 16:35:41
While Lennon is an optimist and sets high targets it looks like he's building something progressively.
We have a nice mix of experience and raw youthful ability with more of the squad the kind of pros that put the shift in for the badge.

While we'd like a bigger name in up front I'm not overly worried if we sign another forward like Simon Murray - works hard and gets the scrappy goals we haven't had for a long time. I think he'll feed off big Deivy really well this season.

01 Aug 2017 18:49:36
Keep McGinn, McGeough stays fit, sign Hendo and Moult and I think we could fight it out for the best of the rest, maybe even give the tic a sore one over the course of the season. Hopefully in a cup final.

01 Aug 2017 22:08:22
You do realise Big L that would be Bartley McGinn Swanson Whittaker Boyle mcgeouch Murray slivka and Henderson 8 players to keep happy?

01 Aug 2017 22:40:50
I was also at the meeting and have been at a few and your bang on Leanne is doing a marvellous job however I won't be truly happy until Petrie is out. He has been a Bain in our existence for 25 years and he's still her boss.

01 Aug 2017 23:52:08
I think Hendo will come when McGinn goes. Probably next summer.
We have Martin (I wish he played more, he's good enough) and Fraser Murray too.
Another striker and a quality wide player for midfield before anything in the middle and we're sorted really.

02 Aug 2017 00:29:49
quality wide player!
noticed Alex Harris is scoring goals for Falkirk.

02 Aug 2017 00:39:27
I look at Whittaker as a FB Boyle is a striker according to Lennon and we 4 or 5 mids a game, don't see young Fraser playing regularly 1st season.

02 Aug 2017 13:39:29
I was disappointed Harris was released too.
I can only assume both him and Stanton didn't put enough work in in training since they were both talented enough to do a job for us.

31 Jul 2017 16:41:18

if a player has played in less than 10% of their clubs competitive games in the last season he/ she can end their contract by mutual agreement

14 days after termination further compensation can be claimed if player is still without a club

This MAY account for the wait between stokes termination and signing for anyone.

When is this time limit up.

31 Jul 2017 17:36:05
I'd have thought this was sorted since the parting of ways was mutually agreed several weeks ago.
I doubt he'll put a claim in since he has offers and it's his own lack of making a decision which has caused the delay in joining a club.

It appears they are giving Stokes a bit more time but they are pursuing other strikers, which is absolutely fine by me!

31 Jul 2017 19:02:48
Sensible since we don't have time to waste on a maybe.

30 Jul 2017 18:31:13
Jury out on Sid . juve guy is class and f murray is the new messi as long as we play alloa every week.

31 Jul 2017 17:08:12
And with him and the other big Lithuanian we are now a threat from good balls into thre box and murrays done no thing wrong with his head either I'm buzzing for this seaso I really think we can embarrass hearts and rangers.

31 Jul 2017 17:11:54
If he's good enough he's young enough he dosnt lose the ball much and can get in the box when needin another Diamond in the rough.

31 Jul 2017 17:15:04
He looks very good but do you think he will be up for Dingwall on a Wednesday night.

31 Jul 2017 19:52:44
Will you be in Dingwall on a Wednesday night?

31 Jul 2017 23:26:12
In referring to sid metalvicious not sure about him the midfielder will stroll the prem tho and i would have fraser murray in team b4 him as used at weekend for an hour to build him up physically, ability wise he has it sorry for cryptic earlier v.

30 Jul 2017 14:20:39
There's an old saying about wanting to play for the shirt. McGregor, Stevenson and Gray spring to mind, Swanson, Murray and Marciano jumped at the chance to play for us and the two Lithuanians were in Leith before the ink was dry on their passports. Stokesy doesn't want to play for the shirt or he'd be at Easter Road by now. Neil Lennon should look elsewhere.

Bored senseless of all the stokes chat. I really don't think of recent that he's proved his worth and were putting a lot of thought and effort into a hit or miss.

30 Jul 2017 16:51:05
I agree Arp, just say yes or no! Let us get on wi building our squad for the season. Lenny has said he will know by early next week, hope that's the case.

30 Jul 2017 21:37:08
Stokes has played 20 competitive games in 3 and half seasons?
Why are we holding out for this waster?

Lennon met with Stokes this week, says " it comes down to money or football " says they are not a million miles away and is buoyed by the talks he had with Stokes.

No news big L it's always been about the money with him. Bit of a judas really.

28 Jul 2017 18:52:23
TBF he's 29 it's his last decent contract, if he can get 15-20k a week in China for the next 2 or 3 yrs he'd be a fool to turn it down. He could earn 2.5-3 Mill over the next 3yrs. If it was me, I'd be studying the language toot sweet! Lenny gives the impression he's in with a chance of signing him.

28 Jul 2017 19:45:12
I did wonder if Celtic would sign him short term seeing as both their strikers are injured.

28 Jul 2017 20:50:28
Anthony Stokes judas! Deary me, do u know him?
Some people have forgotten what the guy did for our club just over a year ago.

28 Jul 2017 23:19:14
Unfortunately most of us remember what he did in the 4 months prior to that too, and in the summer after when released from Celtic.

He's smashed this league at three different clubs and every time he's chased (or, in the case of Lennon leaving Celtic, been happy with taking) the money afterwards - the cup final simply put him in the shop window for his move south after contributing little and seriously denting a promotion challenge beforehand.

If Lennon convinces him to sign I hope he at least puts the effort in this time.

29 Jul 2017 11:01:02
If it were not for Stokes it would be 115 years and counting, that squad from Conrad Logan to the substitutes are Hibs legends, how people can slag off Stokes regardless of the reasons he hasn't signed yet are way off the mark.

29 Jul 2017 11:43:30
Every Hibs fan is and always will be eternally grateful for his massive contribution to the Scottish Cup win. But you have to remember that we are trying to build a team for the coming season, Stokes has been made a very lucrative offer, which includes a hefty signing on fee, a goals bonus and probably the highest basic at the club. He needs to stop messing about and say yes or no, we've got other options and we need to move on. He is quite within his right to choose what ever offer he wants, but get bloody on with it! It's also true that his form fitness and interest could have been better prior to the Cup final, but he cerainy turned it on agains gers, unfortunately we don't play them every week.

29 Jul 2017 13:23:40
We would have won the cup without stokes. Yes he was great on the day but so was every other player. What did he do before the final? He was pretty poor.

29 Jul 2017 13:37:11
Woulda been out in the 1/ 4 final away to Inverness if it weren't for Stokes.

30 Jul 2017 14:40:34
We never have been nor will we ever be a one man team. Stokes was pretty poor when he played for us except for the times he decided to do a bit. Personally I would go for moat from Motherwell.

27 Jul 2017 19:23:21
Matulevičius has been given Hibs No. 9 shirt!

Very bad sign!

James Collins springs to mind!

If Lennon thinks Matulevičius, Stokes, Murray and Graham can score enough goals in SPL then he is delusional.

We are desperately in need of a goalscorer.

P. s nobody mention Murray, he scored 4 in 4 in last seasons league cup then went on to only score 10 in the league.

Agree1 Disagree0

27 Jul 2017 19:58:17
What's in a number these days? Nothing
Would you be happier if he wore 14?
He is a number 9? He will play most weeks as Lennon always likes to play with a target man everywhere he's been. stokes is a proven goalscorer in this league, Murray chips in with the same 14 as last year, another 15 coming from midfield, share a further 10 throughout the defence we will be fine. We don't have buckets of money to spend?

27 Jul 2017 22:25:54
Simon Murray didn't play as a striker for Dun Utd he played out wide. I suggested that we go for hI'm last year before the break, at the break Lennon offered £50K DU refused it. I think he's a cracking player he will get 20 goals this season if he gets to play thru the middle. I don't think Stokes will sign, he has been offered a hefty signing on payment, a bonus based on goals and a decent basic, he will still get better elsewhere. He's 29 and it's his last decent contract, I think he will go for the money.

27 Jul 2017 23:12:02
I have to echo Big L if Murray is played through the middle he'll smash through the 20 goal barrier everyone seems so obsessed with. He's scored five in three matches from open play albeit against lesser opposition but he looks sharp and I'll confidently predict he'll have fifteen goals for Santa arriving and a revised contract in January!

Matulevicius has been brought in as an old fashioned battering ram who will most likely do the unsung work for others take take the plaudits. with this talented squad they'll be plenty of takers! In Lennon We Trust GGTTH.

29 Jul 2017 11:02:00
From clips viciouus sid works the channels on both sides maybe his movement brings space for others more a holt role and in past we run out of steam at xmas squad rotation will help murray and stokes or boyles pace mb can still see mcgin awy jan mb if the juve guy brought on for cover?

31 Jul 2017 06:07:36
That's what we've missed under Lennon though, a striker that works the centre halves and drags them sideways across the forward line - all too often last season it looked like they were being told to head straight for the penalty area and wait for the ball in from one player out wide who had no shorter link up option.

Sounds like Vykintas has settled straight in too - if we can keep him happy he'll be a massive bargain.

Fraser Murray getting games is pleasing too, I wanted to see more of him last season with Martin.

27 Jul 2017 15:56:15
Robbie Keane anybody? Can't argue with goals ratio 37 years old tho would take him as a back up instead of graham.
