Celtic fan coming in peace. For years we had to put up with the abuse, hatred, threats and assaults directed at our then manager. The fans of nearly every club hated him and the media was of the opinion that he was just a ned, deserved everything he got as he always brought it on himself, he was the one that started a fight with the slug mccoist and that ge was a disgrace and brought shame on celtic. 2 games in its back to the same routine, he is to blame nothing to do with the abuse he was getting, he should have known better . etc

Whats your thoughts since he is now your manager?

I'm not sure if he's got balls or if he's just stupid. He could have stood and looked at them with a smile on his face, listen to them venting their sectarian bile and he would have had more effect with no repurcussions. I mean, what were the huns going to complain about, a smile! As for his management skills, he has brought a strength and belief to the Hibs team that has been sadly missing in many previous good Hibs sides, and I thank him for that and long may it continue. GGTTH.

If you heard the abuse he received. I’d defy anyone not to reaction. He is allowed to celebrate his clubs success. And so what if he slightly invited it. If he did nothing he’d still get the dogs abuse. And the media, hun fans etc would still be on his back. When he was Celtic manager I was of the same opinion as everyone else, without the sectarian part. I just thought he was a nyaff. However now I think he’s the best manager we’ve had in years. I look forward to every match now. He is his own man and he’s allowed to defend himself. Rangers fans just need to remember the glass houses and stones phrase.

And another thing.

I have a friend who’s a Sevco fan who was there and he was embarrassed and ashamed by his clubs so called element of fans who continually hurls dogs abuse at NL for the whole 90 minutes. Even for the decent Gers fans there that is hard to listen to.

He knew he was going to get it tight, for Christ sake, he's been getting it tight at most of the grounds in Scotland for years and we all know why, it's because he's a Belfast Catholic. In all his years at Celtic I never seen him giving the huns the old straight arm get it up ye so why do it now? Instead of the headline being about Hibs victory it's all about Lenny's winding up the huns and police involvement. Is he going to do that every time he goes to Ibrox, is that what we can expect? Does he think his reaction will stop them spewing their bile, he knows it won't. What would have happened if the huns had come over the wall? Game abandoned maybe, what good does that do us or football? Everyone knows what to expect from the snowflakes at Ibrox, and Lenny also knew what to expect. The best way to deal with it is to beat them and that's what it's all about imo.

In all his time at celtic his treatment was a disgrace, bullets thru the post! Assaulted during a game in front of tv cameras yet the guy gets off as there was not enough evidence! Assaulted in the street. Constant abuse at nearly every ground so it is understandable that he reacts. If all that happened to mccoist there would have been an outrage and no doubt a scottish government enquiry. That said all the time as our manager i don't think he done himself any favours.

He may not help himself at times. But he is entitled to defend himself. I defy anyone not to react to the bile he receives. He got it when he played for Northern Ireland and being catholic. The diehard sectarian nutters then never wanted him even though he gave his all for NI. He is allowed to be outspoken. He has an opinion just like everyone else. I say good on him. He’s the best thing to happen to this club in decades. I hope we manage to tie him down on a longer contract. Got the first time in years I look forward to match days!

I agree, what he has had to contend with is disgusting and it's not going away any time soon, but he shouldn't encourage them. He's had a letter bomb, he's been assaulted on the street and on both occassions the people were jailed. He's had a nutter jump over the wall at swine castle and try to assault him, not to mention the tirade of hate
he has to listen to. What he shouldn't be doing is putting himself up on a wall to be shot at and I don't mean that literally. Maybe not all these people are talking thru a hole in their ass. For his own sake, he has to ignore them and get on wi the job. TBH he would have been better off and safer working in England.

{Ed007's Note - They'd have just found something else to moan about though, there was nothing surer at the weekend that NL would do something that would upset the Ibrox hordes. They can't handle the fact NL won't let them intimidate him and frighten him into leaving the country, he's not afraid of them and that eats away at them more than any football result ever will.}

Latest: Police have arrested the guy that threatened to shoot Lenny and the SFA are investigating his behaviour at Ibrox.
